ABOUT AKESSE BREMPONG
BORN Phil Evans Akesse-Brempong.
Affectionately called “The Lion”, Phil Evans Akesse-Brempong is credited with the germane introduction of alternate sounds to the gospel music scenes in Ghana and Africa.
Drawing from the wells of Reggae, Afrobeats and the Ghanaian Pentecostal sounds, the prolific Psalmist serves songs birthed out of his personal experiences, seeded in sound doctrine, delivered to inspires faith in God and hope for the future with many wondrous signs accompanying.
At the budding stages of his recording career, Akesse Brempong breezed unto the international scenes with his hit single “Crazy Love” which won him the Discovery of the year 2014 award at the Africa Gospel Music Awards UK.
In 2016, Gospel Innovation USA enlisted Akesse Brempong as one of ten artistes dictating the pace, breaking frontiers and shifting the status-quo of gospel music on the African soil.
His position as purveyor of Gospel Reggae in Ghana was further consolidated with an Africa Gospel Music Festival (AGAFEST) Reggae Song of the Year award in 2018.
With four albums and a plethora of hit songs under his belt, Akesse Brempong has graced stages both local and international with the likes of Donnie Mclurkin, Don Moen, Fred Hammond, Juanita Bynum, Benjamin Dube, Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, Ntokozo Mbambo, Chandler Moore etc.
The multiple award winning artiste is a husband to Benedicta Akesse-Brempong and a father to Chenaniah, Hadassah and Aryah Akesse-Brempong.
Akesse Brempong serves as a pastor at the Empowerment Worship Centre in Accra and a Lecturer at the department of Communication, Pentecost University, Ghana.
